This has been described as ‘one of England’s most romantic gardens’ and is created around a picturesque 14th century moated castle ruin. A formal garden overlooks a quarry garden and the grounds of the old castle enclose a rose garden.

This is a private 9 acre garden tended solely by its owners. It is a tranquil, peaceful place with a wide variety of different plants.
The garden is designed, with numerous winding paths, walls and terraces, as a place to lose yourself.

| Groombridge Place |
The moated house (not open to the public), which dates from the mid 17th century is set at the bottom of a valley with the enclosed formal gardens sloping from the north. There is the Drunken Garden where the topiary leans at strange angles and the Draughtsman’s Garden, where the film of the same name was filmed. The Enchanted Gardens contains several themed gardens designed by Ivan Hicks.

| Pashley Manor |
This is a Tudor timber-framed ironmaster’s house, dating back to 1550, when it was owned by the family of Anne Boleyn. The house stands in eight acres of formal garden which is predominantly Victorian in style. There are a series of natural springs, which together with a large fountain ensures that falling water can be heard almost throughout the gardens.
